A. The Production Process

The production process of the green fertilizer consists of the following steps

  • Green Hydrogen (GH2) is Produced by Electrolysis of Water using the Renewable Energy from the CSTP Project;
    2H2O → 2H2 + O2
  • Nitrogen is produced by conventional air Separation Technology (PSA) from Air.
  • Then Ammonia is Synthesized in a conventional Haber Bosch Process Unit that utilizes only Renewable Energy; thus the product is called ‘Green Ammonia’
    N2 + 3H2 → 2NH3 [Green Ammonia]
  • Green Ammonia(gas) so produced is then converted to Di-Ammonium Phosphate (DAP) in the Fertilizer Production Unit by reaction of Phosphoric Acid thus the ‘Green DAP’ is produced;
    NH3 + H3PO4 → (NH4)2HPO4 [Di-Ammonium Phosphate]
  • Ammonia(gas) may directly be injected to soil as source of Nitrogen or the same may be converted to ammoniacl liquid fertilizer as liquer ammonia
    NH3 + H2O → (NH4)OH [Ammonia Liquer]

B. The Project Components

1. RE Plant Section

Round the clock power supply is ensured by CSP Plant with adequate energy storage system, consisting of following

  • a. Solar Power Unit: - CSTP Technology 200 MW (20*10MW), Generation (4.8 MU/Day).
  • b. Thermal Storage Unit: - Equivalent to (3.6 MU)

2. Green Hydrogen Section
  • a. Green Hydrogen Unit: - Installed Capacity 67.2 (28*2.4) TPD
  • b. Estimated Power Consumption: - (3.56 MU/Day).

3. Green Ammonia Section

Conventional haber process is used for sysnthesis of Green Ammonia, consisting of following components

  • a. Nitrogen Unit: - Conventional PSA Technology, Installed Capacity (320 TPD)
  • b. Green Ammonia Unit: - Conventional Haber Unit, Installed Capacity (380 TPD)
  • c. Estimated Power Consumption: - (1.01 MU/Day)

4. Green DAP Section

Conventional production process is used for production of Green DAP as under;

  • a. Green Fertilizer Unit: - Conventional Technology, Installed Capacity (1,400 TPD)
  • b. Estimated Power Consumption: - (0.18 MU/Day)
